What "off-track" actually means
The rollers that keep the door in the side tracks have jumped out of one or both tracks. Door now hangs at an angle (or worse, has fallen partially) and is held only by the cables. If a cable snaps under that load - the door drops.
Why this is an emergency
A 200-pound off-track door can fall on a car, person, or pet. Don't try to "push it back" - the cables are under extreme tension and can lash out. Disconnect the opener (red cord) and wait for us.
What causes it
Most common: someone backed into the door (50% of cases). Second: a cable snapped (25%). Third: a roller failed and jumped the track (15%). Fourth: storm damage (10%).
How we fix it
We brace the door, reset rollers in the tracks, replace any snapped cables, straighten bent tracks, and balance-test before we leave. Most jobs take 60-90 minutes.
